Three Simple Things You Should Do to Focus on Yourself

Why do women, especially moms, tend to loose themselves? Do you know what I mean?  This is what normally happens in a mom's life:

AM Clock goes off:  Mom gets up and begins her day by getting lunches ready for the kiddos and husband.  She cleans up the kitchen, and then, with the little time she has available, she tries to quickly get ready to head on to work or run errands.    Later on she picks up kiddos from school, gets home to start dinner, and begins to help the children with school work. After dinner, she cleans up around the house, spends a bit time talking with her husband about how their day went, and then, with what ever energy she has, she manages to squeeze in a shower before heading to bed.

Do you recognize this routine Mom? Does it seem all too familiar?  Let me tell you something girl. I've been there and done that.  I woke up one day feeling like I did not know who I was anymore and that was not a good feeling.  I did not like the person looking back at me in the mirror.  I was tired and felt like I was loosing myself.  I could not find the woman in me.  From the time the alarm goes off in the morning, I was mom, or wife, or friend, or whatever everyone needed me to me.  I was losing myself and I needed to find a way to get the "me" back in my life.

These are the three things I did that changed everything for me and brought back the girl inside "me".

#1 and the most important for me: Make time to take care of yourself spiritually.  Whatever it is that makes your spirit joyful and excited to start the day, do it!  Fight for that time.  You need it.  Whether it is getting up a bit earlier to spend those quiet moments in prayer or taking time the evening to read something inspirational and encouraging.  

#2 Make time to take care of your physical-self.  It really does make a difference to get active. Even if it is just for 15 minutes a few times a week.  Take a walk down the neighborhood and listen to your favorite music. Exsercie to a 15 minute workout video on Youtube. 15 minutes.... Fight for it.  You need it.  

#3 Make time to look and feel beautiful.  Do your hair, make-up, and get dressed.  It doesn't matter if you work at home or work in the corporate world. Do not start your day without looking put-together. Don't you know that when you look good, you feel good?  And let me tell you something, jewelry has a way to bring any outfit together.  Whether it is for work or just a simple pair of jeans and a T-shirt, jewelry will add that pop of color and sparkle to finish up your look for the day.  Jewelry is the easiest and simplest way to just bring it all together.  It is like putting a pretty bow on a present.  You have taken the time to wrap this gift for someone and have finished it up with a bright bow and streamers.  

Take time to focus on yourself.  Fill yourself so that you can pour into those you love.  After all, when you know who you are, you are a gift to others.  Make to sure to shine!
