We all have a purpose. God has planned us to be in existence at this very moment for His Glorious purpose. We are not here by mistake. Even if you were given up at birth, even if you feel abandoned, even if you have been divorced, even if you have made bad choices in the past, it does not matter. He has ordained and planned for you to be here on this earth at this very moment for His purpose. Nothing takes God by surprise. He is a God of order. And if you are here today, it is because that is His plan. It is easy to feel alone, without purpose, like a mistake. Sometimes life gets hard and it leaves you feeling beaten down. Maybe you feel overlooked all the time, leaving you feeling like you do not matter. The enemy will plant thoughts in your mind that will convince you that you are not of any importance to anyone in this world. Maybe you feel like you do not have much to offer anyone. Let me tell you something. You are not alone, you do have a purpose, you are not a mistake, and what you have is more than enough in God’s mighty hand. Do not allow the enemy to steal your joy, faith, and strength. God goes before you and is always with you.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified, for the Lord your God will go before you. He will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
So, get up and do not let your past define who you are or should be. Walk according to His plan. Sometimes the choices we make take us away from what he has called us to be. And sometimes the trials we face take us exactly where he has called us to be. My daughter struggling in school, so much that she would cry daily because she could not focus, was a trial that led me to His plan. I am her mom and I did not know what to do. It broke my heart to see my eight-year-old stressing so much. This circumstance led me to homeschooling (which was another struggle that I will leave for another blog), which then lead me to lean on God more than ever before. At this time in my life, it is God’s plan for me is to homeschool my kids. Through this journey and its struggles, I have felt overwhelmed many times. I have thought that maybe I am not equipped for this. I wonder if I am doing enough. I have felt unqualified. Even when you are walking in God’s plan, the enemy will try to steal, kill, and destroy your blessing. I began to lean on His word daily and listened to other moms’ encouraging words. It lifted me up. I learned that there are others that feel alone and without purpose and it breaks my heart that they feel that way. These past three years of homeschooling has led me closer to God and has led me to start Selah Box. Do not get stuck in a circumstance. Perhaps God is trying to get you to walk into His plan, and his plan is good.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
Life happens, and we make bad choices. Sometimes it is the choices others make that affect and hurt us, leaving us feeling unwanted, unloved, and rejected. Maybe your childhood was not the best, maybe your spouse left, maybe your child has chosen a dangerous path, or maybe you lost a loved one unexpectedly. Whatever that “maybe” is, it hurts and can lead you away from God’s plan if you let it. But what the enemy intends for bad, God will work out for good.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28
Even if you have been broken and hurt by others, God can give your pain a purpose. You can share your experience to give others hope. After two miscarriages and a premature birth, I was broken into many pieces. I thought I would never get myself back together. My brokenness was no use to anyone, but those broken pieces blessed in the mighty hands of God can help someone else regain their strength and give hope as they go through their trial.
Before everything that you have gone through and done, before all the bad choices, before all the broken hearts, you were called a child of God. He knew you by name and planned every day before you were born.
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.
They cannot be numbered!” Psalm 139:13-17
How amazing is that?! How amazing is God’s love for us that we were on is mind since the very beginning? Do not ever feel rejected, alone, abandoned, or purposeless (even through all your trials). Stand up and take your place! The place that God had created just for you since the beginning of time. You are a child of God. You are here because He has ordained it and His plans for you are good.
